After Google locked businesses out of Google+ (for now), Facebook has strategically launched an online guide describing how corporations can benefit from using the social networking site. Excellent timing if you ask me.
Facebook.com/business is designed as an “online education center” to advise companies how to create a profile page, design targeted ads, deals, and even provide tips on how to interact with fans and customer feedback.
The timing is obviously interesting because Google has received so much flack for shutting businesses out of the Google+ fun.
The page emphasizes Facebook’s positive stance towards businesses on the social networking site.
“Facebook allows small businesses to create rich social experiences, build lasting relationships and amplify the most powerful type of marketing – word of mouth,” a Facebook spokesperson wrote in an email to Reuters.
“We created Facebook.com/business to make it even easier for people to reach these objectives and grow.”
Reuters points out that this is the second time Facebook has countered Google+ announcements with its own feature launches.
The first announcement was Facebook’s parternship with Skype to integrate video into the social networking site, only a week after Google+ announced a video feature in its Hangouts section.
Facebook has also been adamant about blocking features that simplifies exporting Facebook contacts and pictures into Google+.
As the war between Google+ and Facebook wages on, there is little doubt the two social networking giants will continue to frenetically roll out features in an effort to one up the other.
