The iPhone is one of the most sophisticated pieces of technology on the market today, and is one of the best-selling smartphone of all time.
Yet for some reason it can’t perform a simple task like understanding how Daylight Savings Time works.
At 2:00 AM on Sunday, millions of Americans were sound asleep while their electronic devices performed an automatic change of time to 3:00 AM. That is, of course, except for the iPhone, which decided to change to 1:00 AM instead.
The bug, which only affected some users, surely messed with people as they woke up and assumed their phone would be keeping track of time for them.
Last year, when Daylight Savings Time ended, there were similar problems wherein users who had daily scheduled alarms found their alarms going off as much as two hours later than they should have. It’s unknown why Apple is having such a problem with the simple time change.
According to reports, the Verizon iPhone 4 seemed to be the biggest problem device. Potentially all Verizon iPhones were affected. However, some AT&T users showed problems as well.
In other words, if you have an iPhone, just make sure to set a manual clock by your bed during the beginning and end of Daylight Savings Time, just to be sure that you don’t get all turned arond when morning comes and you’re not sure if you can trust what your phone says.
