TG Daily’s very own local paper, the Chicago Sun-Times, tells us that every 26 seconds, someone hits a deer. What the unlucky animal has done to deserve this outrageous behaviour is not reported.
Collisions between cars and deer are up three percent this year, according to a State Farm report and, statistically, one in 228 Illinois drivers look set to hit Bambi’s mom sometime this year.
And insurers reckon that across the US, someone turns a deer into fresh venison every 26 seconds.
West Virginia is the place drivers would do well to avoid if they want to avoid a deer. Michigan, Pennsylvania, Iowa and Montana round out the top five states for deericide.
