An electric hummer anyone? No really, anyone?

You probably thought you’d never see the day, but the headline is true – there’s an all-electric Hummer and you can have one.

Conspiracy theorists will probably use this as yet another sign of the pending Apocalypse, but quite frankly, we’re not quite sure how to make a judgement call on this one.

So, is the new electric vehicle a staggering force of power that befits dirty, off-road adventures across backwoods rugged terrain?

In a word, no.

Manufactured by My Electric Vehicle (MEV), the new Hummer HX is, as Dvice points out, quite simply a glorified golf cart.

We don’t want to be too harsh on the electric vehicle, as it does have some decent specifications and can by driven on actual roads, but in the end, it’s still an adult toy.

Although miniature in size and limited in speed, the new Hummer can go for a while at least, 60 miles in the standard version, and 100 with the lithium-ion battery pack upgrade.

Propelled by an alternating current, brushless electric motor, the vehicle is a luxury item in end, with a LCD dash, LED lights, and heated seats. The all-electric Hummer is a ride built for two, with room for two more in the rear, however, as you can see in the photo above, there’s not much space to move around.

Still, if it’s something you’re into, you can get inside one of these models for $16,000.

While the price tag may seem steep, remember it’s $11,000 less than the pimped-out golf cart we recently featured that was up for auction on eBay.

Besides, someone’s got to be king of the green, and nothing says, “I’m confident in my masculinity,” like a Hummer.
