The American Automobile Association has released its top choices for green cars in honor of this year’s Earth Day.
The membership organization has decided to pick cars in different categories rather than an overall list.
AAA’s choice for best electric vehicle is, unsurprisingly, the Nissan Leaf, which we’ve been covering quite a bit. Its other choices in the all-electric category include the Smart Fortwo and the Mini E.
In the plug-in hybrid category, the club chose the Chevy Volt, but noted that the Toyota Prius PHEV may make some big strides this year.
As for regular hybrids, the picks were the Ford Fusion, the Lincoln MKZ, and the Hyundai Sonota, with the Toyota Prius taking the top place.
AAA also called out the compressed natural gas Honda Civic GX, the gasoline Chevy Cruz Eco for its stated 36 miles per gallon, the diesel Audi A3, and the hydrogen FCX Clarity for making improvements in green automotive sector.
