Vista SP2 ready to roll – almost

Redmond (WA) – Microsoft has published links for downloading the standalone installers for Vista Service Pack 2. Both 32 and 64 bit versions are available. The patch contains improvements in performance, wifi connectivity, native support for Blu-ray burning and Bluetooth 2.1, plus enhancements to Windows Search.

SP2 is not yet available through Windows Update and will require SP1 to have been installed first. The patch is available in English, German, Spanish, French and Japanese, with other languages promised ‘soon’.

Microsoft has released standalone installers for Service Pack 2 for both Vista and Windows Server 2008. This is a consolidated installer for both products. Microsoft’s SP2 pages include links to the release notes, the complete list of fixes in the service pack, FAQs and deployment guides.
