Public Windows 7 RC scheduled for May?

Chicago (IL) – Microsoft seems to be racing toward a release of Windows 7 in time for the 2009 Christmas season. The company’s Taiwan headquarters now indicated that the first release candidate of the operating system will be made available before Computex 2009.
According to Digitimes, Microsoft said that it is “highly possible” that a Windows 7 release candidate will be given out by Microsoft before Computex 2009, which opens its doors on June 2. The publication also said that the RC version has been delivered to Microsoft’s closest partners already. A public release is apparently planned for May 5.

Microsoft released the first public beta of Windows 7 on January 7 of this year. The operating system was originally planned for a 2010 introduction, but has been pulled in for a Q3 2009 launch, which will enable Microsoft and hardware vendors to cash in on the 2009 Christmas season.
