Mark Zuckerberg makes a cameo on The Simpsons

As he continues to try to create a positive image for himself, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg appeared on an episode of The Simpsons in a minute-long cameo.

Zuckerberg has been on a mission to create a good depiction of himself in the wake of the movie The Social Network, which was far and away the top-grossing movie during its launch over the weekend.

Last week, he announced plans to donate $100 million to the Newark New Jersey public school district.

Now, he has appeared on an episode of The Simpsons in which he makes fun of his own Harvard drop-out status and says he’ll get his degree some day – as an honorary degree.

“I’ll get the best kind of degree – honorary, baby,” said Zuckerberg’s character. Simpsons regular Nelson adds, “Better earnin’ than learnin’!”

In the docu-drama The Social Network, Zuckerberg is presented as a socially awkward, fame-hungry guy who betrays his friends in exchange for fame and fortune.

It is seen as a huge PR nightmare for Zuckerberg and the Facebook brand as it hugely publicizes the behind-the-scenes drama that has plagued Facebook from day one.

However, Zuckerberg also comes across well in the movie, as he eventually appears as just a young guy who had to make some tough decisions and loses his best friends because of his enormous success.
