Google’s Chrome has pushed Apple’s Safari into fourth place in the overall browser rankings for December.
According to net monitoring outfit Net Applications, Microsoft IE8 has finally overtaken wrinkly old IE6 as the world’s most widely-used browser.
December figures show that while IE6 still boasts 20.99 percent, with IE8 close behind at 20.86 percent, a further 2.8 percent are using IE8 in compatibility mode, nudging it into the top slot.
Firefox 3.5 follows in third place on 16.32 percent ahead of IE7 on 15.5 percent.
In the overall ratings, Internet Explorer has 62.69 percent, Firefox 24.61 percent, while Chrome on 4.63 percent has pushed Apple’s Safari down to fourth slot on 4.46 percent.
And in good news for all those who have had to suffer it, Lotus Notes now boasts an impressive 0.00 percent market share.
