Google tablet mockups revealed

Google may be developing a tablet PC interface, if a web post by a company engineer is to be believed, lending weight to rumours that it may launch its own tablet device.

In a YouTube  video, one of the company’s Chrome OS designers, Glen Murphy, reveals a mockup of a split-screen user interface allowing two tasks to be carried out at once – unlike the Apple iPad.

The Chromium open source website shows a touch user interface, using gestures such as dragging to scroll up and down, along with a full virtual keyboard.

It looks like working on devices with five- to ten-inch screens, and there’s the full suite of Google Apps built in.

The video supports suspicions that Google is working on its own tablet device, possibly manufactured by HTC. HTC has said only that it was working on tablet prototypes, but had halted the project.
