Android enthusiasts who routinely root their devices will undoubtedly be pleased to read about a new app from veteran dev Koushik Doutta known as Superuser.
For the uninitiated, Koushik Doutta is the same dev who produced the Clockworkmod Recovery and ROM Manager apps – two of the most popular tools for Android users who install their own custom firmware.
As noted above, the developer’s latest application is known as “ClockworkMod Superuser,” and allows users to determine which apps have root privileges on a hacked smartphone or tablet.
This certainly isn’t the first piece of software to carry out this function, withLiliputing noting that there are currently apps which do the same thing on the Google Play Store, including Superuser and one called SuperSU.
However, the ClockworkMod Superuser app does offer a few key differences, namely, the new app is open source awhich is available at github. Another, and perhaps the most important difference between this app and competing software, is that ClockworkMod Superuser is 100% free.
The app also boasts a tablet friendly user interface and supports multiple user profiles on Android 4.2. Frankly, I would expect this app to become one of the most popular of its sort for Android users looking to exert control over their rooted devices to make them more secure.
