Microsoft officially rolled out the latest version of Internet Explorer (IE 10) for Windows 7 users.
According to Redmond, the latest iteration of the flagship browser pomises a 20% increase in real-world site performance compared to Internet Explorer 9.
Microsoft is also including a new Minesweeper test drive demo with IE 10, which is an updated version of the classic game made using HTML5. The game offers users a way to measure the performace of their browser, specifically taking into account hardware acceleration features on Windows 7 as well as Windows 8.
“Minesweeper is built on a breadth of Web platform capabilities including HTML5, CSS3, WOFF, touch, animations, transitions, audio, video, canvas, transforms, and power efficiency patterns,” explained Microsoft rep Ceri Gallacher.
“The game uses standards-based mark-up for interoperability across browsers, and makes the most of fully hardware accelerated browsers like IE10 on both Windows 7 and Windows 8, with consistent performance across a wide range of devices including tablets like the Surface RT. Minesweeper’s performance mode measures how long it takes the browser to solve the minesweeper board, so you can test your browser performance with different minesweeper boards with different complexity.”
