Samsung has unveiled a Bada-powered “super-AMOLED” smartphone at the 2010 Mobile World Congress.
According to PC World’s Mikael Ricknäs, the GT-S8500 Wave measures 3.3 inches and boasts a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.
The Wave also features a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, A-GPS, Bluetooth 3 and is capable of accessing the Web via HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) at 3.6M bps or 802.11n.
In addition, the user interface is based on TouchWiz 3.0 – which allows users to customize a number of different home screens with various widgets.
“Users can swipe their fingers to the right on a contact to call a person or to the left to send them a message. There is also integrated support for Twitter and Facebook in the phone book,” explained Ricknäs.
“All this is powered by a 1GHz processor, which Samsung developed by itself, and comes in an aluminium body that’s 10.9 millimeters thick.”
The S8500 Wave – which will start shipping in April within the EU – is expected to debut at $436 (€320).
However, it should be noted that the Wave’s availability in the US is still currently “under discussion.”
