San Francisco (CA) – A red-faced Apple has agreed to investigate reports of exploding iPhones in the European Union. However, Club Cupertino continues to insist that such incidents are “isolated.”
“Apple have come back to us…and what they’ve said to us is that they consider these are isolated incidents,” European Commission spokesperson Helen Kearns told Reuters. “They don’t consider that there’s a general problem.”
According to Kearns, Apple was attempting to gather specific details of incidents reported in the media.
“They will [then] do tests as necessary to investigate the possible cause,” said Kearns.
Stories of spontaneous iPhone explosions have been widely circulated over the past few weeks. For example, a teenager in Aix-en-Provence, France, was apparently injured by flying debris after his overheated iPhone cracked and shattered.
