Sunnyvale (CA) – Yesterday we reported that Palm Treo Pro will connect with Sprint beginning on March 15. Today we are able to report that Palm Treo Pro will connect with Alltel beginning today, with products available at all retail stores immediately.
This is not the much anticipated Palm Pre operating on either Sprint or Alletel. However, the Treo Pro does support EVDO, Wi-Fi, has built-in GPS and runs Internet Explorer Mobile 6 and has a QWERTY keyboard, making it an attractive alternative for BlackBerry users.
No information was given on price in the link below, however TG Daily contacted a local Alltel retailer and found the Treo is, in fact, on sale beginning today. It sells for $324.99 with a $125 mail-in rebate, making the final price $199.99 with a two-year “Smart Choice” smartphone plan commitment.
Monthly service options for Smart Choice range from $89.99 to $189.99 per month for 500 minutes and 5500 minutes respectively, along with unlimited texting and night minutes beginning at 7pm. This is the per-line price, with a $40 required fee for second line access to use Alltel’s unlimited data network, making the actual per-month cost $129.99 for voice and data.
The manager told TG Daily that for these two lines, two Palm Treo smartphones could be purchased with both being setup to use the same pool of minutes and voice line charge, as well as the unlimited access data for $129.99 up to $229.99 per month, depending on the plan.
