San Francisco (CA) – This year’s Semicon West kicks off today and promises exhibits and technical sessions covering microelectronics, photovoltaics, MEMS and new and emerging technology markets.
Anand Chandrasekher, senior vice president and general manager of Intel’s Ultra Mobility Group will deliver the keynote later today and TG Daily will be there to cover it. Topics for papers include a look at technology beyond 32nm and 22nm, new materials and manufacturing technology.
Other speakers will discuss how to extend the life of older technologies and fabs, the timing of the move to 450mm wafers, MEMS, solid state lighting, and flexible electronics. A new Extreme Electronics zone will showcase companies and technologies focused on emerging markets and technologies and highlight new opportunities beyond semiconductors.
While device scaling still gets most of the attention, advances in packaging and test are growing in importance and offer potentially-huge gains in productivity and performance.
Also becoming more significant every year, solar energy has a big presence at this year’s show. The growing application of semiconductor manufacturing expertise and technologies promises to accelerate the performance, growth, and adoption of photovoltaic technology.
The show runs until Thursday and TG Daily will bring you details of all the significant developments.
