It was going to be the wedding of the 21st century. Samsung was going to take Sandisk to the altar and wed her in a flash.
But the engagement between Sandisk and Samsung collapsed before the best man could give the presiding officer a ring, meaning that it all ended in tears even before it had begun in happiness.
The tears have dissolved because Sandisk said today it had entered into a cross licensing deal with Korean giant Samsung.
Now Sandisk will be able to source memory chips from Samsung and that will improve the bottom line.
Sandisk has a number of patents and so has Samsung. No marriage is built on patents, but shares of Sandisk soared today on the news.
