Giant Korean company Samsung is set to introduce a number of next generation OLED displays at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
The firm said it will show off a prototype OLED 14-inch display with a resolution of 960×540, a contrast ration of 100,000:1, and an ultra slim design of 1.6mm. Samsung claims this prototype panel has fast enough image switching to eliminate optical crosstalk between the two 3D images.
It will also introduce an OLED panel designed for notebook PCs, smartphones and MP3s, and said when the screen is off, the prototype shows 40 percent transparency.
The third OLED prototype it will show is an RF powered AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic LED) that includes a chip that will store personal information. Applications for this device would include driver licenses, vehicle registration cards, and passports.
