A report has outlined Intel’s plans for its notebook chips throughout the rest of this year.
Intel will introduce the Calpella notebook chips in the third quarter of this year, and at the same time will cut prices on Montevina to flush out existing stocks.
The firm is also taking steps to phase out the Atom N280 for Netbooks, but later this year will launch a the next Atom CPU, codenamed Pineview which will use the Tiger Point chipset.
The same report said that Intel has created a reference design for Netbooks with 8.9-inch screens, which will run on an Atom N270, the 945GSE chipset, 512MB of RAM and flash based disks. This Netbook reference design will cost around $250, using Moblin V2, says Digitimes, here.
