Zotac recently revamped its Zbox mini computer lineup with Intel Core i3 and i5 processor options.
As previously discussed on TG Daily, the first Zbox machines to hit the market were powered by Intel Atom processors, which were subsequently bolstered by Intel’s Core i3 SoC, with the i5 weighing in as the latest addition.
Yes, Zotac has rolled out a pair of Zbox mini computers equipped with dual-core Intel Ivy Bridge processors (i3 or i5). As expected, the machines will be offered as bare-bones models lacking RAM or hard drives, but will also be available as “Plus” models with 4 GB of RAM and 500 GB of integrated storage. However, it should probably be noted that neither the barebones system or the “Plus” iteration includes a pre-loaded OS.
Dubbed the ID89, the Core i5 version features a 2.9 GHz Core i5-3470UT processor, Intel HD 2500 graphics, HDMI, and DVI outputs. Additional specs? Integrated gigabit Ethernet, a memory card reader, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, audio output, a pair of USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, a media center remote control and a USB IR receiver. Pricing? $519 – with memory and storage.
The i3 version is known as the ID88 and also offers up HD 2500 graphics. Both machines measure the same 7.4 x 7.4 x 2-inches, and include integrated VESA monitor mounts attached to the back of the TV or computer display. Oh, and yes, both devces lack integrated optical drives, which is really no great loss anyway.
