Sony recently announced official pricing and availability for its 4K television lineup, but that wasn’t all the 4K display news the Japanese-based corporation had to offer.
Yes, Sony has also debuted its lineup of professional 4K OLED monitors – at 30-inches and 56-inches – both of which are apparently designed to reproduce video signals with the highest degree of accuracy.
The 30-inch 4K monitor boasts a resolution of 4096 x 2160, while the native resolution of the 56-inch weighs in at 3840 x 2160. Both monitors are fitted with an improved panel, promising industry-leading wide viewing angles that reduce color shift by half compared to previous generation screens using similar technology.
The A Series includes the BVM-E250A and BVM-E170A monitors for high-end cinema and broadcast applications, the BVM-F250A and BVM-F170A monitors are designated for TV productions and broadcasting, while the versatile PVM-2541A and PVM-1741A are for a wide (general) range of monitoring applications.
“High-quality reference grade OLED monitors are more important now than ever, especially when working with 4K content,” said sony rep Gary Mandle. “At this level of production, color accuracy and reproduction are critical. With these improvements in viewing angles, color shift and additional enhancements, professionals are now even better equipped to critically evaluate any type of signal.”
The A Series Trimaster EL OLED monitors will be available in May 2013 at an undisclosed price, although the displays are likely to be fairly reasonable like their television counterparts. The A series will replace the following existing Sony monitor products: BVM-E250, BVM-E170, BVM-F250, BVM-F170, PVM-2541 and PVM-1741.
