Most Android-powered PCs-on-a-stick lack an external antenna, meaning Wi-Fi connectivity can be significantly hampered.
Earlier this year, we saw a DIY modification allowing users to add an external antenna to their sticks. However, cracking open an electronic device and pulling out the trusty soldering iron is probably just slightly more than most users would be willing to do.
The good news? If you’re currently on the market for an Android-powered TV stick, the CX-803 II has just been announced. This device runs Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and boasts a cool little translucent green external Wi-Fi antenna, which should ensure significantly better Wi-Fi reception than most other sticks on the market.
Other than an external Wi-Fi antenna, the device also boasts 2 GB of RAM and a Rockchip RK3066 dual-core processor. All told, you can purchase this little Android TV stick for about $70 via Geekbuying. Besides the above-mentioned features, the device offers users a USB port for easily hooking a keyboard and mouse, along with a microSD card slot for storage expansion.
Additional specs? 8 GB of integrated storage paired with an ARM Mali 400 quad-core GPU, and an HDMI port on one end. Oh, and yes, the extra memory on the stick should come in handy if you’re the type who wants to run an alternative operating systems like Linux.
