Razer’s Project Fiona gaming tablet went up for pre-order earlier this month. However, pre-orders have now been put on hold due to overwhelming demand.
Of course, it is important to note that the tablet itself hasn’t been delayed – and the reason for the hold is simply unforseen demand. Indeed, Razer says it has already accepted so many pre-orders for the $1300 device that it could take months for some buyers to get the tablet in their hands. The cheaper Razor Edge tablet can still be pre-ordered at $1,000, but that tablet is reportedly limited in supply as well.
In the meantime, Razer says it is doing all it can to produce more units to alleviate the wait time.
As previously discussed on TG Daily, the Edge Pro boasts a 10.1-inch screen with a 1366 x 768 resolution. It is equipped with a 1.9 GHz Intel Core i7 processor paired with Nvidia GT 640M discrete graphics. The machine is also fitted with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.
The $1,000 entry-level Edge boasts a 1.7 GHz Core i5 processor, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage and the same 10.1-inch 1366 x 768 resolution display.
The Edge tablets are expected to be capable of handling most modern video games with settings turned to medium. The one downside? Battery life is tipped to be only 90 minutes (per charge) during heavy gaming sessions. As expected, the tablets run Windows 8, allowing users to runs apps, check e-mail and surf the web.
