Asus has launched an all-in-one computer (AIO) dubbed the Transformer AiO P1801.
Essentially, the all-in-one computer is a desktop PC that runs Windows 8, yet when the screen is pulled from the desktop cradle, it becomes a stand-alone Android 4.1 tablet.
The multi-touch tablet boasts a display measuring 18.4-inches and is powered by an Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor. The tablet is designed to slip into a desktop docking station equipped with a third-generation Intel Core desktop processor and Nvidia GeForce GT 730 M GPU.
The AIO is equipped with four USB 3.0 ports and an HDMI output, allowing users to easily attach an external monitor to the PC Station dock. The resolution of the 18.4-inch screen is 1920 x 1080 and it supports 10-points of touch. Other features include integrated dual band Wi-Fi and Asus SonicMaster audio technology.
When in tablet mode, the 18.4-inch IPS display offers up to five hours of battery life. It is also fitted with an integrated carry handle and folding stand for comfortable tabletop use. Additional hardware specifications for the base station include a Core i5-3350P processor, 1 TB of storage, 8 GB of RAM and an integrated optical drive.
The tablet features 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of onboard storage, along with a one-megapixel front facing camera. Bluetooth 4.0 is supported and the tablet measures 11.57 x 18.34 x 0.70-inches.
The Transformer AiO will be available in early Q2 2013 starting at $1299. This is actually a surprisingly reasonable price for the device. Frankly, I expected it to be more expensive, as the smaller Transformer Book portable was up for pre-order at $1480.
