F9 Android set-top box powered by Samsung’s Exynos SoC

There are currently several Android devices on the market powered by Samsung’s quad-core Exynos 4412 processor.

For the uninitiated, this is the very same chip Samsung uses in its own Galaxy S III smartphone which is so incredibly popular with Android fans. And now a new set top box has surfaced that packs in the very same high-end Samsung processor.

The set-top box is dubbed the F9 Android mini PC and a company called GeekBuying is hoping to sell the device. Some key details are up in the air right now, such as exactly when the set-top box will be available and how much it will cost.

“This is the first day we get this device, we still need more time to do deep review, please stay tuned with geekbuying, we will share as much as information we can,” GeekBuying wrote in a blog post. “Also if you are interested in this new mini pc, please leave message, we are trying to talk with the factory to get good price for you guys.”

Other than the 1.6 GHz quad-core processor, the F9 is also equipped with a Mali 400 quad-core GPU, 1-2 GB of RAM, 8GB-16GB of storage and Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).

Additional specs? Integrated Wi-Fi, a pair of USB ports, and HDMI port, and a microSD card slot for storage expansion. As expected, the F9 should be more than capable of streaming HD resolution video and running various Android apps and games. Unfortunately, it remains unclear when the device will actuallu be available for purchase.
