The pcDuino might look a lot like the Raspberry Pi, but the little white board has some interesting tricks up its sleeve that the Pi lacks.
Indeed, the pcDuino is equipped with Arduino-compatible headers, allowing users to attach Arduino shields to add new functionality to anything you build using the pcDuino.
Of course, that doesn’t mean that the pcDuino lacks any features on its own, as the uber-mini boards boasts integrated Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and HDMI ports.
However, thanks to the Arduino compatibility, you can add all sorts of other things such as Bluetooth, GPS, touchscreens, and various other hardware.
The pcDuino board itself is relatively inexpensive, weighing at about $59.
Additional hardware specs include a 1 GHz Allwinner A10 ARM Cortex-A8 processor paired with with Mali 400 graphics. The little board is also equipped with 1 GB of RAM and 2 GB of integrated storage, which might not be enough for most users, so the SD card slot will definitely come in handy for storage expansion.
The pcDuino is fitted wuth UART-PIO interfaces that can be used to connect additional hardware, making it impressively expandable. The board’s processor is capable of running several operating systems including Android or Ubuntu.
One notable catch? As Liliputing points, all devices with the Allwinner A10 running Ubuntu Linux can’t really take advantage of hardware accelerated graphics. Then again, the real draw for the pcDuino is that it is specifically designed to interface with Arduino shields.
