Huawei is a China-based corporation that makes all sorts of electronics and gadgets, ranging from smartphones and tablets to set top-boxes.
Recently, the company has unveiled a new Android set-top box which seems like an impressive performer. Dubbed the MediaQ M310, the device is powered by a quad-core HiSilicon K3V2 ARM Cortex-A9 processor.
Additional specs include 1 GB of RAM, 4 GB of integrated storage, Vivante GC4000 graphics, HDMI input and HDMI output. As expected, the set-top box supports full HD resolution video and features a pair of USB 2.0 ports, SPDIF audio output, a 3.5 mm audio port and an integrated microSD card slot for storage expansion.
Huawei also fits the devices integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology. While the box runs Android, it is loaded with a customized user interface (UI) that aims to make the operating system easier-to-use on a television screen. The box should hit the market within the next couple months at around $80 or less.
If you want a device with a bit more performance, Huawei also offers a version called the MediaQ M810 with 2 GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage, Ethernet, a TV tuner and hard drive. However, pricing for the new device has yet to be announced.
