Hyundai has rolled out a $166 entry-level Android tablet. The T7 features some fairly impressive specs for the above-mentioned price point, including a quad-core 1.4 GHz Samsung Exynos 4412 processor.
Indeed, one can’t help comparing the $166 price tag to Google’s Nvidia Tegra 3-powered Nexus 7 tablet which currently retails for a cool $199.
If you’re familiar with the specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone, you’ll know the Hyundai tablet is loaded with the same processor under the hood and paired with a Mali 400 GPU. Additional hardware specs include 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage, a two-megapixel rear camera, 0.3-megapixel front camera, HDMI output and a micro USB port.
The 7-inch screen of the tablet boasts a resolution of 1280 x 800 and promises viewing angles of 178-degrees. The screen supports five points of multi-touch and runs the Android 4.0 operating system (Ice Cream Sandwich).
The tablet is also equipped with an integrated G sensor, GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. Power for the tablet comes is drawn from a 3000 mAh battery, which promises only four hours of runtime per charge. Considering some of the tablet on the market offer considerably more juice, the $166 price tag for the T7 might not look as good to some shoppers.
We recently covered the Nexus 4 made by LG, a Google-branded tablet with a 4.7-inch display, a QUALCOMM Snapdragon S4 Pro chip, 2 GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage, an eight megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel front camera.
Personally, I’d go with a product from a known manufacturer before importing a Chinese no-name tablet.
