AMD promises notebook HDTV through USB stick

Taipei, Taiwan – AMD has launched its ATI Theater HD 750 PC TV chip offering HDTV on desktop and notebook PCs.

The chip is compatible with HDTV, DTV and analog broadcast standards including NTSC, PAL/SECAM, ATSC, ClearQAM and DVB-T.2. It can record content in H.264, AVI, MPEG, DivX, WMV and MPEG4 formats and will be available in a number of formats including add-in PCI Express cards, USB sticks and ‘others’, says the company, enigmatically.

“ATI Theater HD 750 combines AMD’s longstanding reputation for video expertise with consumer demand for a cost effective, easy to use and high quality TV on the PC,” says Matt Skynner, Vice President & General Manager of AMD’s GPU Division.
