SolidRun has debuted a new lineup of tiny PCs that are capable of running both Linux and Android. Powered by Freescale’s i.MX6 single, dual and quad-core processors, the CuBox-i systems start at $45 and scale up to $120.
As Liliputing’s Brad Linder notes, there four versions of the SolidRun Freescale lineup, all of which measure about two inches square and feature ARM Cortex-A9 processors, two USB 2.0 ports, a microSD card slot, Ethernet jacks and more.

“The single-core model has just 512MB of RAM, while the dual and quad-core variants have between 1GB and 2GB,” Linder explained.
“The highest-priced models also have WiFi and Bluetooth built-in, whereas those are only options on the cheapest models. They also feature support for SATA drives.”

And while the above-mentioned Freescale i.MX6 chip may not be as speedy as the latest processors from industry heavyweights like Qualcomm, Samsung and Nvidia, they are typically accompanied by a plethora of documentation, making it easier to run multiple operating systems on the Freescale-powered PCs.
