Asus has confirmed that it will be integrating advanced 3D motion-control technology into high-end notebooks and premium All-in-One (AiO) PCs later this year.
The technology is provided by Leap Motion, which has managed to develop an accurate natural user interface capable of tracking movements to 1/100th millimeter – smaller than the tip of a pin – with no visible lag time.
The Leap Motion controller boasts a 150-degree field of view, all while tracking individual hands and all 10 fingers at 290 frames per second.
According to a Leap Motion rep, over 40,000 devs have already requested to work with the company – which has since distributed 12,000 free units to encourage the creation of new applications.
In other Asus news, the corporation recently debuted a new Zenbook Touch U500VZ ultrabook which measures less than 0.8 inches thick and weighs in at approximately 4.8 pounds.
Specs? An Intel Core i7 Ivy Bridge processor, Nvidia GeForce GT650M GPU, 4GB of RAM, two 256GB SSDs, three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, mini VGA, Ethernet and SD card ports.
Pricing for the above-mentioned touch-enabled system is still unavailable, but it will clearly go on the market at a premium, likely at a bare minimum of $2500, if not higher.
