Check out this $374,500 Apple 1 computer

Sotheby’s has auctioned off a functioning Apple 1 computer for a cool $374,500.

Interestingly enough, only about 200 Apple 1st were ever produced – as the fully assembled circuit boards were hand-crafted by none other than Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and sold for $666.

Approximately 50 of the circuit boards are believed to be in circulation, and the above-mentioned auctioned model is one of the very few that still works.

The auction house also sold a memo written by a 19-year-old Steve Jobs for $27,500, which detailed possible methods of improving Atari’s World Cup football game.

The pages are lined with circuit sketches and include the following Buddhist mantra: “Gate gate paragate parasangate bodhi svahdl,” or “Going, going, going on beyond, always going on beyond, always becoming Buddha.”

While $374,500 for a circuit board and $27,500 for a memo may seem a bit steep, it should be noted that Apple’s founding papers, boasting Steve’s personal signature, sold for close to a $1.6 million in December 2011.
