Vacuum cleaner entrepreneur James Dyson wants us all to spend $299 on a fan that has no blades.
The Dyson Air Multiplier draws air in and amplifies it by using a 16 degree airfoil shaped ramp
Up to 27 litres of air a second are drawn in by what Dyson describes as an energy efficient brushless motor – using technologies drawn from jet engines and turbochargers.
Dyson reckons that the blades on conventional fans cause unpleasant buffeting as they chop the air before it hits you.
But its Air Multiplier fan doesn’t. It hits you for $300 instead. That’s 10 times more than a pretty decent fan costs.
