Arab teen’s iPhone app reaches 800,000 downloads

Abdulrahman AlZanki is credited with quite possibly being the youngest entrepreneur in Kuwait, and at 14 years old he is nearing his millionth iPhone app sale.

P0ach.com has the story about how AlZanki first learned to make websites at the age of 11 and it was only a natural progression that he took his self-teaching spirit to the world of iPhone apps. In the span of just two weeks, he not only taught himself how to program video games from the ground up, he also created his first iPhone game.

The game, Doodle Destroy, has landed in the “Top 50” section of the App Store and has been downloaded more than 800,000 times, or an average of 20,000 every day.

Unfortunately, he’s not earning any money on that app. It’s a free download. But AlZanki has a handful of other games available for 99 cents each. This little kid probably won’t become the next millionaire prodigy, but his self determination shows just how many opportunities there are are for entrepreneurs all over the world in this digital age.

He has aspirations of going to Stanford once he finishes high school. When asked where he sees himself in five years, his response was, “For now, my goal is to reach the top 10 in the US app store.”
