Apple refreshes iPod lineup

Apple has refreshed its iPod lineup, adding new features and pricing to its popular Touch and Nano devices.

”iPod has revolutionized the way we listen to music and with over 320 million sold is the world’s most popular music player,” Apple exec Philip Schiller said today during an event in Cupertino.

“iPod touch, now available in both black and white, is the best selling iPod ever, and with iOS 5 and iCloud it is better than ever.”

The new iPod Touch – which is powered by iOS 5 – will be available on October 12 for a starting price of $199.

Meanwhile, the latest iteration of iPod Nano starts at $129 and is in stores today. It boasts a redesigned user interface, 16 new digital clock faces and improved built-in fitness features.

For example, the Nano now tracks your runs and walks right out of the box with no accessory required – making it even easier to get your fitness program up and running.

Of course, the iPod Nano is capable of tracking the time, pace and distance of your run, the calories you burn, and the number of steps you walk. You can also easily upload workouts to the Nike+ website to set goals, track your progress and challenge friends.

In addition, the Nano offers “motivational,” real-time voice feedback, all while allowing you to listen to music or FM radio station.
