Apple next gen iPhone appears in logs

Web site MacRumors said that there appears to be a new version of the iPhone in the offing.

An iPhone developer told MacRumors it saw usage records of the iPhone 3,1 in its application records.

That version is associated with an application called iBART to help commuters find their way round San Francisco’s transportation system.

Those in the know reckon that the iPhone,3 identifier doesn’t match any shipping versions of iPhone – and the designation iPhone 2,1 matches the last released phone, the iPhone 3GS.

MacRumors speculates, here, that a next gen iPhone might include a multicore processor and compatibility with Verizon.
