Apple falls on previous Newton tablet designer

Fashionable firm Apple of Cupertino said yesterday that it has re-hired Michael Tchao, a developer who worked on the company’s Newton personal digital assistant (PDA).

Tchao will become a vice president of product marketing and will report to a Mr Schiller down there in Cupertino after 15 years wandering the planet.

While he was on his travels he worked at Nike and introduced some really really useful things like sneakers that work with the Apple iPod.

Apple is rumored to be developing one or more tablets amidst much speculation as to what else it is doing on the silicon design trail.

The Tchao report emanated from a New York Times blog.
