Amazon releases Kindle for PC

Amazon is offering a free Kindle for PC application that runs on XP, Vista and Windows 7.

But while this might not be any big deal, an advert on top of the download page shows a Winnie the Pooh page in full color.

That suggests that Amazon may be closer to releasing a color Kindle than anyone thought.

The firm says that there’s a Mac version of the application coming soon. The advantage of having the PC app is that using it lets you autosync with your Kindle device and view the annotations you’ve made.

It also lets you – of course – shop for online books in the Kindle store. The download page is here.
