There are literally thousands of video games for Android-powered tablets and smartphones. The problem?
Most of these video games offer users control interfaces that aren’t the easiest in the world to use. For example, on-screen (touch) controls aren’t as fun or precise as
those found on dedicated controllers for consoles or PCs.
Then again, we have seen a number of tablets tip up in recent months with integrated controls. One of the coolest (and most expensive) is the Razer Edge tablet which is powered by an Intel chip and Windows 8.
Now Android fans have a new device that boasts built-in gaming controllers. Dubbed the IbenX GamePad, the device runs Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).
Specs? How about a 7-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800? The IbenX is equipped with a quad-core Allwinner A31 ARM Cortex-A7 paired with PowerVR SGX 544 graphics. Other features include a five-megapixel rear camera, a 0.3-megapixel front camera and 1GB of RAM.
Unfortunately, we still don’t know how much the Ibenx tablet costs or when it will hit the streets. The device probably has more in common with the Archos Gamepad than the Razr, as both the iBenX and Archos devices run the Android operating system. On paper, the iBenX tablet looks to be the better performer, but who knows if that will actually hold true in the real world.
