Chinese tablet maker Onda recently showcased a slick $240 Android tablet that featured an iPad-like retina display.
The display measured 9.7-inches and other than a similarly sized screen and resolution, the tablet had virtually nothing in common with the iPad.
Well, Onda is back now with a smaller tablet dubbed the V818 which boasts a 7.9-inch screen and looks a lot like the iPad mini.
This little tablet runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and is available for $170. Although listed in online stores, it’s unclear exactly when the device might actually ship.
The V818 features an IPS display and is powered Allwinner A31S quad-core processor paired with a PowerVR SGX 544 GPU.
Additional hardware features include 2 GB of RAM, 60 GB of storage, a five-megapixel rear camera and a front camera with VGA resolution.
Dimensions for the tablet are 7.9 x 5.5 x 0.3-inches, with a weight of 12 ounces. Some details of the tablet are unclear, for example, whether or not the screen supports five or ten points of touch. The screen aspect ratio is also uncertain, as is battery size (either 4000 mAh or 5000 mAh unit). Hopefully by time the tablet is in stock and available online the confusion over specs will be cleared up once and for all.
