LG has officially announced its latest smartphone in Korea, but the long-awaited device will be coming to the United States as well.
The smartphone is dubbed the Optimus G Pro, with LG saying the handset will launch in Q2 in Japan, North America and other locations.
The smartphone boasts a slick 5.5-inch screen, supports full HD resolution and uses IPS technology to render 1920 x 1080 with a pixel density of 400 ppi.
The Optimus G Pro is also fitted with a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 2.1-megapixel front camera – facilitating the easy capture of both still shots and video. The device uses an advanced UX with features developed specifically for the Pro, including dual recording and virtual reality panorama. The dual recording feature allows users to capture video with the front and rear cameras simultaneously – offering a picture-in-picture experience. Users can also shoot the entire horizontal and vertical environment for a 360° view of their surroundings.
The phone – which measures 150.2 x 76.1 x 9.4 mm and weighs 172 g – will be offered in indigo black and luna white. It is powered by a 1.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor paired with 32 GB of integrated storage.
In addition, LG fitted the phone with 2 GB of RAM, a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 64 GB and the operating system is Android 4.1. Additional specs? Integrated Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi direct, NFC, and HDMI output.
The price is currently listed at 968,000 won, which totals somewhere around $897. Of course, you can safely assume the device will be much cheaper with carrier subsidies, likely around $299.
