Coby has introduced its very first Google Certified Android-powered tablet.
As most of you probably know, Coby has been in the business of manufacturing relatively cheap electronics products for years.
The company’s new tablet is known as the MID7065. The biggest issue I see is? It’s not exactly cheap. Frankly, I think most people familiar with the Coby name don’t really expect superb quality as much as a very low price point.
However, the Coby tablet is selling for $150 putting it on par with other, and likely better tablets on the market such as the Kindle Fire. The good news? Coby offers full access to the Google Play app store, whereas the Kindle Fire doesn’t unless you hack the device.
The Coby tablet boasts a 7-inch screen and is equipped with a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor (Amlogic AM8726-MX). Additional specs include Android 4.0, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, a microSD card supporting up to 32GB cards, a 0.3 megapixel front camera, integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
As noted above, I thinkthe Android 4.0 Coby tablet will be a hard sell when it launches in Q1 of 2013, at least at a $150 price point.
