A rooted and deodexed version of Android Jelly Bean has leaked for Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone.
As the folks over at XDA Devs note, the latest iteration of Jelly Bean for the SGIII isn’t a port and remains a leaked patch – as Verizon hasn’t yet started rolling out an official software update to its user base.
“As with pretty much any stock update, you lose root if you install the leaked ROM directly. If you haven’t installed it for that reason and would rather keep your root access, you needn’t wait any longer as long,” explained Haroon Q. Raja.
“XDA Forum Member alexcolodner has taken the leaked JB ROM, rooted and deodexed it, and uploaded it for everyone to enjoy.”
Raja confirmed that the leak was the fully stocked TouchWiz ROM – bringing all the Jelly Bean goodies to your device including root, Google Now, Project Butter and notification tweaks.
In related news, Team Liquid recently released RC7 of its AOSP 7 ROM to seven devices. Essentially, AOSP is vanilla Android at it sweetest, a stripped down version of Google’s mobile operating system without the bloat, flavor and skin imposed by a handset or tablet manufacturer.
