Most tablet owners have probably played a game or watched a video that several friends or family members wanted to observe at the same time.
You can easily do that on a larger screen device like the iPad, but some of the smaller Android tablets pose a challenge for multiple viewers.
Archos has been making Android-powered tablets for a long time now with several notable devices in its rather extensive lineup. One of the more recent Archos tablets we discussed was the Archos 97, which boasts a 9.7-inch display – making it one of the larger tablets in the company’s line. And now Archos has confirmed the specifications for an even larger tablet dubbed the Arnova FamilyPad.
The most notable feature of this tablet is its gigantic 13.3-inch display, which should be sufficient for multiple
users or viwers. As expected, the big 13.3-inch screen boasts a resolution of 1280 x 800 with 10-point capacitive multitouch.
The tablet – which is powered by a 1 GHz Allwinner A10 ARM Cortex-A8 processor – runs Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and is loaded with 1 GB of RAM, as well as 8GB of Internal storage. The FamilyPad also boasts a two-megapixel front camera along with a two-megapixel rear camera.
Additional specs? Internal stereo speakers, integrated microphone, dual USB 2.0 ports, a mini HDMI port, a microSD card slot, audio jack and an internal battery promising 5-6 hours of life for web browsing and 8-10 hours for watching video. The tablet will be available with a special stand, allowing users to prop it up for watching videos or presentations.
Unfortunately, we don’t yet know when the tablet will launch or how much it will cost, but we can expect the device to be fairly reasonably priced.
