Favi is a $49 Android PC-on-a-stick that ships with a custom launcher and optional $39 remote which includes a thumb keyboard and touchpad.
The Favi SmartStick is powered by Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), supports Google’s Play Store and features integrated WiFi, an HDMI port, USB 2.0 port, mini USB port and a micro SD card slot.
As Brad Linder of Liliputing notes, the device can be easily connected to your TV by simply plugging the stick right into an open HDMI port for 720p or 1080p output. Power is drawn from either a USB port or an AC adapter and there is also a port where you can plug in an IR receiver for use with a remote control.
The Favi SmartStick is available in two primary configurations: 4GB for $49 and $79 for 8GB. Both versions are slated to ship on October 30th. Unfortunately, additional information such as processor type isn’t yet available, so it remains unclear how Favi stacks up against other PCs-on-a-stick we recently covered on TG Daily.
Of particular note is the $72 Droid Stick T10 which ships pre-loaded with Android Jellybean and features a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage and ARM Mali 400 graphics. Additional specs include a full-sized USB 2.0 port, 2 mini USB ports, integrated WiFi, a micro SD card slot and an HDMI port.
The abundance of ports allows users to easily plug in a display, keyboard, mouse, remote control dongle and other peripherals to run Android apps on a TV or monitor. As expected, the Droid Stick T10 is also loaded with Google’s Play Store and is fully capable of running Adobe Flash Player 11.
