Video: LG Optimus G is unveiled

Not wanting to be left in the dust, LG has unveiled its latest smartphone. The LG Optimus G was announced this week, and a new promotional video was just released to show exactly all the features it brings to the table.

The device packs in a Qualcomm quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, with a massive 4.7-inch display. It has 4G LTE connectivity and an impressive 13-megapixel rear camera. It also includes a 1.3-megapixel on the front of the device.

The phone also incorporates Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, enabling it for current and future applications involving mobile payments and other phone-swiping applications.

Samsung has the Galaxy family of devices, Motorola is now a part of Google and will continue to entice with its Razr phones, HTC always gains attention for its unique and first-of-its-kind creations, but LG has not really found its voice in the Android world.

The company has tried to build brand recognition with the Optimus brand, but those phones haven’t garnered as much attention as LG’s competitors. The Optimus G is unlikely to shift the market either, but it is quantifiably a pretty powerful phone.

There is some speculation that the phone could be rebranded as Google’s next “Nexus” product, something which could finally really put LG on the map. That is just a rumor at this point, however.
