Fujitsu has debuted two Windows 8 ready machines that should appeal to those looking to snap up a next-gen portable tablet or notebook.
Both higher-end devices – the Stylistic Q702 laptop/tablet hybrid and the LifeBook T902 convertible laptop – seem to be targeted at business users. Indeed, the Q702 boasts an 11.6-inch screen and can be fitted with an optional keyboard dock that supports pen input.
Of course, there’s certainly nothing new about this form factor, as Asus has proven with its relatively popular Transformer line of Android tablets. The primary difference? Fujitsu is offering business focused features such as TPM, Intel Anti-Theft technology, CompuTrace support, and integrated Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity from AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint.
As expected, the Q702 is powered by x86 Intel Ivy Bridge processors, rather than ARM chips, including Core i3 and i5 options. The device is also equipped with 4 GB of RAM a 128GB SSD storage. Upgradeable to Windows 8 this October, the tablet initially runs Windows 7 with a resolution of 1366 x 768.
Additional specs include Gorilla Glass, 400 nits brightness, a weight of 1.88 pounds, an internal battery run-time of 4.5 hours and 5.5-hour dock battery.
Meanwhile, the T902 is a 13-inch convertible notebook with a resolution of 1600 x 900 and an Intel Core i5/i7 processor. This device weighs in at 4.1 pounds and can be fitted with up to 16 GB of RAM, along with (optional) 3G or LTE 4G.
The machine also features a modular bay capable of accepting a spare battery or additional hard drive. Security features include TPM and Computrace support, along with a fingerprint sensor and uses a vPro chip.
Fujitsu says the T902 is good for 11 hours run-time – with the optional second battery installed. Both of the above-mentioned devices are slated to arrive in Q3 with the Q702 starting at $1099 and the T902 hitting $1899.
