Verizon has just revealed its latest LTE-powered Droid device.
And this time, it’s from manufacturer HTC. The Droid Incredible 4G LTE is the successor to the Droid Incredible and features a 4-inch super LCD qHD display, a 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdraggon processor, and support for Near Field Communication (NFC) technology.
It also sports a powerful 8-megapixel rear camera, along with a front-facing camera with an as-yet unspecified resolution. It also comes with the latest version of Android, version 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich.
It, of course, also contains support for Beats Audio, which HTC took ownership of in an attempt to be the defined leader in mobile audio.
It is one of the biggest announcements to come out of the festivities in New Orleans, where the mobile CTIA trade show is happening this week. Expect lots of news to trickle down over the next few days.
This is also a chance for HTC to earn a bigger standing in the Verizon family. The company has been outperformed by Motorola, which has focused intensively on Verizon with its Droid Razr, Droid Razr Maxx, and Droid Xyboard tablet.
In fact, many people associate the “Droid” moniker exclusively with Motorola, but it is in fact owned by Verizon. The HTC Droid Incredible was the only non-Motorola “Droid” device that gained any notoriety, and now it is trying to make that distinction again.
