Lenovo has posted a video on YouTube showcasing its new IdeaTab S2109.
The 9.7-inch screen tablet looks pretty sweet indeed and is the latest in a long line of Android devices attempting to challenge the dominance of Apple’s wildly popular iPad in the mobile market.
Personally, I don’t see anything that really stands out here, so I’m not sure it will be able to mount an effective challenge against the iPad on its own. However, each new Android tablet that hits the market may have a cummulative effect on slowly chipping away at Apple’s impressive market share.
In any case, the video shows a slick looking tablet with a unibody shell and gunmetal finish. The IdeaTab S2109 is very thin, measuring only 8.9 mm thick. The device – which is powered by Android 4.0 (Ice Cream) features a high-resolution IPS display that offers wide viewing angles at 178° and high-quality video playback.
As expected, the tablet also boasts a 1.3-megapixel front camera for video chat, a micro-HDMI output micro-USB port, and an internal rechargeable battery that promises 10 hours of use per charge. Those who like to watch movies and listen to music will undoubtedly appreciate the SRS Trumedia sound with four speakers on the back of the little tablet – which helps improve bass response for media and gaming.
Unfortunately, there is no rear camera on the tablet, yet the device is equipped with a microSD card slot for memory expansion. The tablet also has access to Google Play and Lenovo’s own app store. More specific specs, such as processor type, speed and MSRP have yet to be released.
