Not that it should surprise anyone, but Kindle devices are selling incredibly well.
Amazon has revealed that more than a million units in its proprietary product line are flying off the digital (or real-life) shelves every week.
The sales volume has been in the seven-figure range for three weeks, the retailer disclosed.
This number includes sales of both the Kindle Fire tablet and the black-and-white Kindle e-readers. Even though they are staunchly different products, Amazon has been referring to all models as “Kindles.”
It is unusual for the online retail giant to offer any details about how many of its products are being sold. The retailer is notoriously tight-lipped, but will break its silence when it wants to brag.
The news also comes in light of several negative reviews about the Kindle Fire. The device had a whole bunch of hype to live up to and some critics are saying it has been unable to deliver on that hype.
Amazon promised to deliver a software update for the device, saying it will “improve performance, touch navigation, and give customers the option to choose what items display on the carousel.”
Nevertheless, Kindle Fire will be one of the most-gifted products this holiday season. The question is how Amazon will keep that momentum going.
